Serge Negus

Serge Negus is an amalgamation of many worlds, born on the subtropical northern NSW coastline before moving to Sydney at 16 to finish school. On completing his studies in 2008, Serge went on to study Arts and Sciences at Sydney University where he is majoring in Geosciences the study of the interaction between society and the environment.

Serge has spent his whole life travelling and through this has gained a passion for the environment, conservation, politics and current affairs.

Before the age of 10 Serge was already well travelled, having visited places such as Venezuela, Jordan in the Middle East and much of Europe. In 2001 he spent a month trekking through Madagascar’s rainforests and deserts in search of new species of Chameleons. During his school holidays back in Australia Serge spent time working in wildlife parks and with scientists undertaking research which saw him get up close and personal with snakes and crocodiles.

Since 2010 Serge has been the resident environment reporter for 7PM Project. This job has seen him travel to places such as East Arnhem Land to report on the devastation caused by ‘Ghost Nets’, Kosciusko National Park and the Great Barrier reef just to name a few. Serge is currently employed full time as a researcher and reporter for the 7pm Project.

When queried by Bondi Vet, Dr. Chris Brown on the program "listening to you, you've got so much passion when you talk about animals, Serge, where did you get that from? " Serge explained, "Growing up in the bush" and "David Attenborough is one of my life-long idols. I’ve watched hours and hours of his docos."
