Message from the Australian Capital Territory Minister for Youth

As ACT Minister for Community Services, I am very proud that the ACT Government is able to support National Youth Week 2012.

Each year the momentum of National Youth Week continues to build, bringing together an outstanding program of activities and events developed by youth organisations and young people — for young people.

With this year’s theme being Imagine. Create. Inspire opens up a world of possibility of how young people can actively partake in National Youth Week 2012.

This week long celebration encourages young Canberrans to get involved in activities from Youth Festivals, Zine fairs, competitions and opportunities to ensuring the voice of youth is heard through conferences and forums.

National Youth Week recognises the talents and enthusiasm of young Canberrans and the contribution they make to our whole community. Giving them and the Canberra community the opportunity to focus on the needs, aspirations and unique challenges young people face, and ensures that as a community we value and work more closely with young people.

I encourage every young Canberrans to embrace National Youth Week 2012, get involved and make the most of the opportunities for building new skills, making new friends and having fun the week offers.
