Young people are creative forces in our communities and every year I am inspired by the passion channelled into National Youth Week events.

As both Premier of Tasmania and Minister for Education and Skills, I am delighted that my Government will be supporting NYW celebrations in 2010.

Live it now, the slogan of this year’s celebrations, is sure to inspire young people across the nation to celebrate being young, to voice issues that are important to them and to create positive change in their community.

From planning events and activities to participating in them, young people are a vibrant part of our community and their participation at all levels of NYW is essential to its success.

I particularly encourage young Tasmanians to get involved in their local community’s event and share their ideas about improving on the success of previous NYWs.

I look forward to seeing the collaborative and creative events that unfold during NYW 2010 and wish all young people an action packed and enjoyable week.
