Retro Metro
Frederick Taylor
The uncertainties of growing up place pressure on the decisions of younger people. Like this photo, sometimes it can be hard to find a change in direction. Life can feel like our destinies are predetermined – even though we are unsure of our path or why we want to get there.
But it is important to recognise our individual freedom and power of choice:
Even when all seems lost, you and you alone have the power to decide whether to stay or look for change. Sometimes the hardest thing about making a move is taking the first steps to do it.
Don't Blend into the Background, Make a Move!
Jessica Pentreath
This photograph was taken to encourage people not to just sit back and blend into the background, but instead to get out there and make their dreams come true, The grasshopper is hiding in the bush, trying to blend into the background, however, with one swift jump he is off, making a move, and leaving his impact on the world!
The Good Old Days
Mel Gibbs
This photograph is an illustration of the good days, when I was a kid. When we found joy in cops and robbers, and playing with friends outside. Where the days would last forever, where we would hurt ourselves and be fine in 10 minutes, where we would sulk so we could have a go. The good days that seem now only to be memories, so we need to make a move, and get off the computer and play station and instead hop away on our pogo sticks into the afternoon sun.
Go Outside and Do Something
Andrew Pearce
‘Go Outside and Do Something’ is a comical statement about the in-ability to engage with outdoor activities and the urgency to actually make a Move. It took quite a few shots on the self timer, to get the correct exposure, so that the ‘Make A Move’ glow stick text would be vibrant and clear, whilst trying to maintain a level exposure on the lamp which seemed to be flooding out the image, but eventually the natural light changed and helped level the exposure. I used the white balance to achieve the slightly golden effect and contrasted the photograph which brought more focus to the main subject.
