Give What You Get
Blanks
Shining an unusual light on the theme of searching for missing persons, “Give what you Get” centres on the thoughts of a teenager who has left home, reflecting on his decision and its impact. Feeing he was being mistreated, the teenager left home in spite of his parents and in search of independence. The teenager shows no remorse, evident through use of sarcasm and obvious denial of the difficulties of homelessness. This song urges listeners to make a choice about the validity of the teenager’s decisions, and hopefully prevent some similar occurrences.

Forever Autumn
This song is written about coming back. Whether that be from depression or some form of hardship. It’s about losing your true self (going missing if you like) and becoming ‘blind’, unable to see a way out or unsure how to reach out. In the chorus it asks somebody to ‘shine a light down’ to make those that are going through the trouble be able to see again, and see that they can find themselves again
Rhythm

This song, titled ‘Rhythm’, is my representation of the theme Always Searching. It explores my need to always be surrounded by music, life and the ones that I love. In my musical journey, I am always searching for new and interesting ways to reach people with my sound. This song is a home recording, using a variation of fun instruments including xylophone, shakers, piano and harmonies galore. The essence of this piece of music is to create an atmosphere of happiness and hope; to let people know that life is good, and to enjoy the ride.
To and From
Joshua Belperio
‘To and From’ is a piece that’s been on the drawing board for a while. It has previously taken many forms – a lullaby, a choral piece, but none of these seemed to work. There was something vital missing from it, and then I heard about this competition themed ‘Always Searching’. By drawing on emotions I experienced from losing, I tried to imagine the devastation of losing a person. Finally I felt I found my piece, so I gathered two brilliant singers that I met on a summer music camp and we recorded it.
Sweet Dreams
Yossif Kafedjiysky
Sweets Dreams is basically a song written especially for the “rock it” competition that portrays the feelings of losing a loved one and only being limited to dreaming about their presence. It uses the “always searching” theme to address the continual searching for a trace of our loved one that has gone missing but never finding anything, and not knowing if they are okay. The Song also addresses just how big the numbers of missing persons are. It is a song of hope.
