How to Enter:

1. Read the Conditions of Entry.
2. Get thinking about the best way for you to promote your community. Would this be by making a video, taking awesome photos, or through an audio presentation? You can enter as an individual, or as part of a group (of up to five people), but you can only enter once!
3. Audio and video entries are to be a maximum of 3 minutes in length, and if you decide to submit a photographic entry, then you can provide up to six of your best shots.
4. Once you have your presentation sorted, we also want you to tell us a bit more about your entry and your community. A written description of 100-300 words needs to be included with your entry.
5. Make sure if you use images of other people in your entry, that you get each of them to complete and sign a personal image consent form (PDF 16KB | RTF 25KB)
6. You need to complete the ‘ourspace’ Launch Competition Entry Form
   (PDF 3.1MB | RTF 42KB) and make sure that you sign the entry form to confirm that you have read and accept the ‘ourspace’ Conditions of Entry – if you are under 18, then you need to get a parent or legal guardian to sign your entry form.

There will be two winners selected, one regional and one urban. Each will receive a VIP pass to the National Youth Week Launch Event held in their home town with live musical acts, celebrities and heaps of great activities.

1. By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these conditions of entry.
2. The Promoter is the Commonwealth of Australia, acting through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, 16-18 Mort StBraddon ACT 2601. ABN: 63 578 775 294.
3. Information on how to enter, and prize details, form part of these conditions of entry. Entry is open to all residents of Australia aged between 12 and 25 years of age as at 18 April 2010 except employees and immediate family members of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and its publicity agency (Weber Shandwick Octagon Pty Ltd (WSO)) and all competition sponsors and media partners identified on the website (www.youthweek.com).
4. Entries are open to individuals and groups. Group entries are limited to a maximum of 5 members and all members of the group must satisfy the eligibility criteria set out in paragraph 6 below. A main contact person must be provided if a group entry is submitted.
5. Only 1 entry per individual/group can be submitted.
6. To enter you must:

• be aged between 12 and 25 years of age as at 18 April 2010.
• be an Australian resident;
• satisfy the specific eligibility requirements as specified in paragraphs 9–14 below.

1. The Promoter reserves the right to:
   1. verify the validity of entries and entrants including an entrant’s identity, age, place of residence; and/or
   2. disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is, in its reasonable opinion, not in accordance with these conditions of entry.
2. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the number or value of the prizes. The Promoter will not be responsible if the prizes or any part of the prizes become unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control. In the event of such unavailability of the prizes, the Promoter will endeavour to, but is not obliged to, provide substitute prizes of equivalent value. Details of the prizes are available on the website (www.youthweek.com).
3. Entries must be your own original work. All entries must be submitted in English, and must be suitable for viewing by people of all ages (i.e. G rated).
4. Entries can be submitted via email or post as either:
   1. A video presentation of up to 3 minutes including credits, which can be submitted as a MPG, AVI or ASF file or as a VHS tape. ;
   2. An audio presentation of up to 3 minutes including credits which can be submitted as a MP3, WAV or ASF file, or on CD; or
   3. A photographic presentation of up to 6 photographs which can be submitted as a JPG, TIF, EPS or PDF files or as hardcopy prints.
5. Your entry must incorporate the theme ‘ourspace’ and tell us why National Youth Week 2010 should be launched in your community.
6. Your video, audio or photographic presentation must be accompanied by a 100-300 word written synopsis of your entry.
7. If your entry contains images or voices of people who are not entrants in the ‘ourspace’ competition, you must get their permission to use their image. A personal image consent form must be filled out by each relevant person and sent in with your entry. If you do not have the consent of each relevant person, the entry will not be published.
8. A list of credits and/or bibliography acknowledging any resources used or considered (including any recorded music) in the creation of your entry must be provided.
9. Entries close at 11.00pm AEDST Sunday 31 January 2010. No late entries will be accepted.
10. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost, misdirected, incomplete or incorrect entries.
11. Entries that are deemed indecent, defamatory or inappropriate for public display by the Promoter will be disqualified.
12. Each complete entry will be individually judged based on its portrayal of the celebration and participation of young people in their home town. Consideration will also be given to the viability of the proposed location in hosting an event. A shortlist will be determined from the entrants in accordance with these criteria. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Shortlisted entrants shall be notified by e-mail.
13. From the shortlist, the two best entries, as determined by the judges, and that are deemed as viable locations to host events, will be the winners.
14. Unless otherwise stated, prize/s can be redeemed by one (1) person only.
15. All ancillary costs, including but not limited to spending money, meals, taxes, insurance, transport to and from departure point and transfers, associated with redeeming the prize/s are the sole responsibility of the winner/s unless otherwise specified.
16. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought.
17. The Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained during the course of the prize event except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
18. Winners will be notified by email.
19. Completion and submission of an entry will be deemed as acceptance by the entrant to:
    1. the use and publication set out in paragraph 28 below; and
    2. their name and postal address being forwarded to Weber Shandwick Octagon Pty Ltd and/or the sponsors, in the event that they are a winner, to enable organisation and delivery of their prize.
20. A parent or legal guardian must sign each entry form for each entrant who is under 18 years of age at the time of submission.
21. Each shortlisted entrant agrees to grant a permanent and free licence (including sub-licence) to the Promoter and future operators of National Youth Week to use, reproduce, adapt and exploit the entry in whole or in part for the purposes of National Youth Week. Each shortlisted entrant also consents to the use of their entry for promotional purposes of National Youth Week and broadcast of their entry on Channel 10’s ‘Video Hits’ programme, the National Youth Week website (www.youthweek.com) and the Minister for Youth’s websites.
22. The Promoter manages personal information collected from entrants in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. The personal information of entrants will be used only for the purposes of assessing your entry for the Ourspace Competition, the compilation of a report on the general demographic characteristics of Ourspace entrants (to be used by the Promoter and WSO) and for promotional purposes for National Youth Week, including broadcast of entrants’ submissions in their entirety onto the National Youth Week website (www.youthweek.com), Minister for Youth websites and on the Channel Ten ‘Video Hits’ program. Personal information of entrants may be disclosed to other National Youth Week Sponsors, as well as parties engaged to perform management and promotional services in relation to National Youth Week. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose, added to any mailing list or disclosed to any person or organisation without your consent unless such disclosure is permitted pursuant to the Privacy Act 1988 or otherwise specified in the Conditions of Entry. Your personal information will be destroyed in accordance with the requirements of the Archives Act 1983.All entrants consent to the use of their personal information being used in accordance with this paragraph.
23. Finalists are expected to cooperate with all reasonable requests by the Promoter (or their agents) to participate in relevant media interviews.
24. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for prizes not claimed before 30 April 2010.

A. The ourspace competition gives young people the opportunity to apply to host a National Youth Week launch event in their home town. If you’re a winner, you’ll be a VIP at a live music event featuring awesome bands and celebrities in your town.

Q. Can I enter more than once?
A. No, for the ourspace competition you may only submit one entry. 

Q. When does judging take place?
A. In early February 2010, our judges will review the entries and select two winners.

Q. Where and when can I find out who the winners are?
A. The competition winners will be announced on this website in February 2010.

Q. I want to submit a group entry, but I’ve noticed that the prizes can only be claimed by one person?
A. If you are the overall winner with a group entry, you will need to agree on which member of the group will accept or claim the prize.
